UCAP provides a wide variety of services and programs to help the residents of Prince Georges County, Md. Programs range from Weatherization and Energy Assistance to an Emergency Food Pantry and Housing Assistance.
Shepherd’s Cove Emergency Shelter

UCAP has managed  Shepherd’s Cove Homeless Shelter located in Prince George’s County since 2004.   The shelter operates  24/7 and 365 days a year. The Shelter has the capacity to shelter 100 men, women, and children. The shelter is primarily funded through resources from the Prince George’s County Department of Social Services.The Shelter is staffed with 14 employees, Case Managers and Residential Assistants.  Case Managers present the residents to the COC for housing assistance, link them to medical and mental health providers to address any immediate needs, assistance with applying for financial and medical benefits, referrals to job readiness programs, and school enrollment for the school age children.  The Residential Assistants provide daily oversight in the shelter and assistance with the daily living needs of the residents. The residents of the shelter are provided with a comfortable living environment, three balanced and nutritious meals seven days a week, a free laundry facility, transportation assistance, Hygiene products, formula and diapers, and other items as needed to assist with daily living.  Residents may stay up to 120 days in the shelter. Residents transitioning that express the need are provided with a care package  and referred to UCAP's housing assistance and food services.

Emergency Shelter
Serves up to 700 individuals annually by providing emergency shelter, three meals a day, child care, case management, and housing location assistance.
Housing Services
Provides HUD-certified housing counseling, eviction prevention, first month rental assistance, and mortgage modifications.
Food Assistance
Fights food insecurity with nutritional food options for the residents of Prince George's County.
Diaper Bank
Provides diapers and other essential items necessary to support families in need.
Period Poverty Pilot
Supplies menstrual hygiene products for low-income members of our community.
Weatherization
We provide green, affordable, healthy energy–efficient homes for low–to moderate–income homeowners.

Empowering seniors to remain independent, active, and vibrant contributors to our community.
Thrive Prince George’s
Pilots a guaranteed basic income program providing applicable senior citizens of Prince George’s County.
Youth CAP
Builds community connections for our youth through service-oriented volunteer opportunities.
Level Up Entrepreneur and Leadership Bootcamp
Jumpstarts our youth's passion for entrepreneurship through a five-week summer program filled with experiential learning opportunities.
Aspire Career and Development Program
Creates positive change and empowers individuals through personal development and career opportunities
Holiday Initiatives
Hosts our annual Turkey Drive and Fixings along with our famous Santa's Workshop!

Offers weekly pop-up for the community with clothing, toiletries and household items.
